Weekend Recap

Where have I been?

Boy, it has been a while since I have been blogging.  I am sorry but life has been incredibly busy this past month.  I started a "new" job, well sort of.  I am still teaching but I moved schools, grades, and subjects so I am attempting to keep my head above water.  I am now teaching high school Economics, Government, and Psychology.  I am very excited because so far, my students are AMAZING.  On top of a new school, I am not in the car for over 2 hours a day traveling, racking up those miles on my car.  I managed to put on over 1,000 miles in the last two weeks.  With teaching and driving I also picked up a few extra "duties" such as the new Girls Cross Country Coach, NHS sponsor and Sophomore class sponsor.  (I need to make myself marketable, just in case).  I am very excited to see what this year holds for me and I know, if I can make it past November I will survive!

Another Crazy weekend...

Another weekend has come and gone.  As many of you know, I am training for the New York City Marathon and apparently there are somewhere near 5 bridges?  I could be mistaken because I haven't looked at the course yet.  It worries me to, I do not want to know what I have gotten myself into until I am there.  Saturday Morning I was up bright and early at 4am to make my way to Clearwater with Run Tampa to conquer some of those bridges.  I originally had 18 miles on my schedules but then randomly remembered I had a 10k the next day so my Coach, Teresa said to cut it back to 14 so I can survive the 10k.  Those bridges were rough!! I made it over and back the Clearwater Bridge, back to the pier and over and back Sand Key Bridge a few times.  I attempted to make my way towards Belair bridge, but without knowing how far it was, I turned about instead of getting to derailed.  Those bridges laughed at me, they had their best of me..but it is ok, I laughed back and conquered them!  I managed to cut the run a mile short somehow and wound up doing 13 miles.  It was a hard run with having tummy problems (As I can share those later) and my feet were killing me with working again and being on my feet for so many hours a day.
After breakfast we headed to breakfast and it was absolutely delicious!  I wish I could remember the name of it I ate a seafood omelet! Oh heavenly :)

On top of the world?
Saturday afternoon consisted of errands and a lovely 2 hour nap! HEAVEN

Sunday was another early wakeup call, but was actually "sleeping in" because the alarm was set for 6:30 for the Run for the Fallen 5k/10k.  I actually heard of this run from Kat.  It was free to sign up and all they were asking for was donations.  I signed up for the 10k "tough course" just because...This run got off to a late start because they didn't know the turnout would be.  That drove me nuts because I had so much I had to do, so delaying me an hour I was freaking out.  I purchased a shirt for $6.00 and wrote a check for $20.00 as my donation, which is about what I would have paid for the race.  (good deed, check√)
I went over to Riverview with Teresa and Misty as we were all running the 10k and met up with Laura who kicked the 5k's ASS!!! (All TNT peeps).  We took some fire power poses and waiting around until the start.  We had to walk through fields to get to the start.  And by "tough run" they meant it, we were up hills, looped 3x, and ran through grassy fields.  It was definitely the toughest run I have done.  What I loved most was that on our bibs, was a picture and the name of the person we were running for.  Once I get pictures, I will post them.  I finished the race in 1:12:11.  My goal was to keep it under a 12 minute mile pace after the 13 miles of bridges the day before.  I did it:)  According to my Garmin the course was 6.02 so WIN!
This is a race I would do again because it was:
1. Free
2. For a great course

The rest of my Sunday consisted of napping and lesson planning :)
EVENTFUL and BUSY weekend.
